During your liposuction consultation be prepared to discuss:

The consultation is the time to ask questions. It's very important to understand all aspects of your liposuction procedure. It's natural to feel some anxiety, whether it's excitement for your anticipated new look or a bit of preoperative stress. Don't be shy about discussing these feelings with your plastic surgeon.

• What will be expected of me to get the best results?

• Where and how will you perform my procedure?

• How long of a recovery period can I expect, and what kind of help will I need during my recovery?

• How can I expect my body to look over time? After pregnancy?

• Do you have before-and-after photos I can look at for this procedure and what results are reasonable for me

In preparation for your liposuction surgery, you may be asked to:

• Get lab testing or a medical evaluation

• Take certain medications or adjust your current medications

• Stop smoking

• Avoid taking aspirin, anti-inflammatory drugs and herbal supplements as they can increase bleeding

Be sure to arrange for someone to drive you to and from surgery and to stay with you for at least the first night following surgery.

After you are given anesthesia, Dr. Sinha will make a small incision in the chin, then lift the underlying skin tissue and use a cannula (suction device) to remove the extra fat causing the jowls or double chin. If needed, further tightening can be accomplished by repeating this process from additional angles.

The decision to have plastic surgery is extremely personal. You will have to decide if the benefits will achieve your goals and if the risks and potential complications of liposuction are acceptable. Liposuction risks include:

• Bruising

• Change in skin sensation that may persist

• Damage to deeper structures such as nerves, blood vessels, muscles, lungs and abdominal organs

• Deep vein thrombosis, cardiac and pulmonary complications

• Fluid accumulation

• Irregular contours or asymmetries

• Rippling or loose skin, worsening of cellulite

The cost of liposuction varies; however, the average cost of liposuction is $3,518. This average cost is only part of the total price - it does not include anaesthesia, operating room facilities or other related expenses. Please consult with Dr. Sinha's office to determine your final fee. Most health insurance plans do not cover liposuction or its complications, but many plastic surgeons offer patient financing plans, so be sure to ask. Other costs may include:

Chin and jaw implants properly align the chin below the nose, helping men achieve that square "Superman" jaw line and women achieve a desirable fine-shaped, fit jaw line.

Silicone, Teflon or Dacron implants are typically used during a chin or jaw implant procedure. A horizontal cut is made in the jaw bone through the mouth and the separated bone is slid into the desired position. After making the incision, the implants are placed over the jawbone, increasing the dimensions and skillfully defining the shape of the chin and/or jaw line. During the procedure, fat can also be removed (known as a chin liposuction), or the muscle sling under the chin can be tightened to further address a double chin. This muscle-tightening procedure requires only a small incision in the skin behind the chin.

Depending on the goal and needs of the patient, small amounts of cartilage and skin may be removed, and the ear will be subtly reshaped to achieve a more aesthetically-pleasing appearance.

To pin back protruding ears, permanent sutures may be used. Typically, both ears will be operated on to ensure a symmetrical appearance, even if only one ear is misshapen. After the procedure is complete, a pressure dressing is placed over the ears to keep them in place while they heal.

Before your procedure, you will meet with Dr. Sinha for an initial consultation. During this appointment, Dr. Sinha will explain everything you need to know about ear surgery, as well as answer all the questions you may have regarding the procedure.

You can expect your ears to be bandaged after your otoplasty procedure. This helps the tissue adapt to its new position and protects the area from harmful pathogens.

In general, this surgery has minimal downtime, with most people returning to their normal activities within five to seven days after the procedure. Though recovery is usually speedy, intense physical activity, such as exercise and sports, should be avoided in the first month.

There is usually very little pain or bruising following ear surgery. However, if pain shall occur, your doctor will advise you on how to manage symptoms efficiently.
